If You Can't Take The Heat...

This is a post of pure complaint. I realize it is June, almost July, and it is therefore perfectly normal for it to be warm, but it is warm here year round and that usually is not a problem. The problem we are having is this-the winds have gone on vacation. It is 87 degrees here today with 60% humidity and NO BREEZE. The leaves on the trees are not rustling in the slightest and haven't now for days and according to all forecasts it doesn't look like they will be returning soon. So, what do you do when it is this hot? Seeing as we don't have air conditioning, you sit around like a bump on a log with all the fans blowing hoping you won't melt. You also try to figure out how to keep a baby cool in a house that is an oven and get him to eat! You envy everyone you know who has a job, and is currently at work in an air conditioned office. You ponder what cold feels like. Wait, was that a rustling of the leaves...too bad.

At Last

Our camera cord has been misplaced, alright lost, for the last few weeks so there has been little posting. I found it today so excuse the plethora of photos that are about to spill forth.
Bennett had his first Sunday at church a couple weeks ago. We decided he should dress the part and his aloha shirt worked perfectly! I am not sure how much he liked wearing real clothes.

Kevin's Aunt Kathy Jo gave Bennett a cute outfit with a pair of shoes. Kevin we excited for Bennett to wear them now, even though they are for later. He looks a little funny with huge shoes on those little legs!
Bennett has a little hernia. Since this picture was taken it has gotten bigger. It doesn't seem to bother him at all...
The other morning I woke up to find that Bennett, who was placed on his back to sleep, had some how rolled over and was now blissfully sleeping on his tummy. I have no idea how he rolled over and he hasn't since repeated it.

Birth Announcement

I know I am behind the times, but I am finally getting around to sending out birth announcements. As I am doing this I realized I don't have a lot of addresses, so I ask you, if you would like an announcement please give me your address. Leave it in the comments or email me at kevinandmelanie@gmail.com. Hopefully they will be in the mail soon!

Poop, Poop and More...

My morning started like so many others-after countless times getting up throughout the night I brought Bennett to my bed in hopes that he might sleep for another hour, so that I might get some much needed shut eye. Being the good boy he is, he did sleep. Every so often I would hear him strain with gas, but this is so normal for him I thought little of it. After a little while he started to get fussy and I realized my sleeping was done. I picked him up and felt a wet spot on his back. As I lifted him higher I saw a yellow spot on my sheets and realized that his "gassy" fit had resulted in a full diaper blow out. As I inspected further poop had made its way up his back to his shoulders, down to his ankles, through the pj's, through the blanket he was wrapped in, to my sheets! Good morning Monday.

Another First

As you can see...
...not his favorite thing.

Happy Birthday Juli!!!

In honor of Juli's birthday today we had a wonderful crab dinner last night. I hope she has a wonderful day and that she is able to have as much fun as we had last night.

Our Week of Firsts...

Last week brought some firsts for our family. Kevin had his first week of work at his internship. I had my first week home alone with Bennett (and the reality that this is the rest of my life...not just a vacation from work). Bennett had his first time sleeping for four hours! I was rejoicing, although he has not since replicated that miracle.

Here is a rare picture of Bennett having a meltdown. Mostly he is a smiley kid, unfortunately I have not been able to capture that expression on film.
