The first time the girls ever sat on Santa's lap was at a corporate Christmas party for Shawn's work. They were 2 and 3 I think. Baaaaaaaaaaaad idea. Maddie screamed so Abi started to cry. We haven't repeated that.
If you're ever in the Kahala area, the Kahala mall Santa is fantastic! I randomly bumped into him as I was walking through and it made my day. If I were four I would be sure he was the genuine article. His beard is real and he's not excessively padded so maybe in the eyes of a toddler he has more of an appealing cheery grandpa look than a terrifying and foreign costume look.
